Development and equity

The Rio Earth Summit linked the imperative of human development with that of sustainability, making inter and intra-generational equity an essential target. The Millennium goals and the sustainable development goals strengthened these relationships, leading to a commitment which is shared by the Countries of the North and those of the South, to eliminate poverty and hunger, guarantee education, gender equality and access to essential services (water, energy, etc.) and health.
