Marie Roué is an anthropologist at the National Scientific Research Centre, France (CNRS) and senior research director of the ‘Ecological anthropology of conservation’ research team at the Museum of Natural History in Paris (France). Her research covers the relationships between society and the environment from 19th century to today, and specifically documents the changes in the management of species and spaces in the context of globalization. Her work focuses on indigenous social organisations, systems of knowledge, know-how and representations based on the observation of Sami practices in Norway and Sweden and also the Cree and Inuit in Canada. She is a member of the IPBES taskforce on Indigenous and Local Knowledge.
She directs the Book Series « Indisciplines », Natures Sciences Sociétés/Quae Publishing.
