Alexandre Magnan

Alexandre Magnan is a research fellow at IDDRI, specialized in vulnerability and (mal)adaptation to climate and environmental change. Since 2003, he has been developing research on coastal areas and small islands especially in the Indian Ocean (e.g., Reunion Island, Maldives, Mauritius) and in the Pacific (Kiribati, French Polynesia). He is particularly interested in "trajectories of vulnerability" (characterization of influencing factors and their interactions over time), in the risk of maladaptation (typology, evaluation, case study) and in the implementation of a Global adaptation goal within the international climate negotiations. In these domains, he works as a co-coordinator for the following projects: CapAdapt (2011-2015), VulneraRe (2011-2016), Ocean 2015 Initiative (2014-2016), Réomers (2013-2016), Storisk (2016-2020). Alexandre Magnan has published several books: Ces îles qui pourraient disparaître, Editions Le Pommier (2012); Des catastrophes... "naturelles" ? Editions Le Pommier (2014); Changement climatique : tous vulnérables ?, Éditions Rue d'Ulm (2013); as well as scientific papers (Science, Nature Climate Change, WIREs Climate Change...). >>Read articles of Alexandre Magnan on IDDRI's blog:
